Elicia K. Lowitz, MSEd, LMHC, PhD

My career journey began by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Florida.  I continued my education at the University of Miami where I graduated with a Masters degree in Counseling and went on to become licensed in Florida as a Mental Health Counselor.

Over the past 25 plus years, my work experience has allowed me to build my skills in many different areas in the field.  Early in my career I counseled at risk families in a therapeutic foster care setting. I moved into the education system next as a Family Counselor in the Broward County School system.  From there, I began building my private practice at Stony Brook Counseling Center in Ft. Lauderdale.

These diverse positions have enabled me to cultivate experience in the areas of individual psychotherapy, child/adolescent and family counseling (ages 5 and up), mood and anxiety disorders, life transitions, ADHD and stress management and adjustment disorders. Additionally, I’ve been an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community and I have vast experience guiding individuals through the various related issues of concern.

My own personal health challenges led me to further explore the power of the mind-body connection.  After earning my 200 Hour Registered Yoga Technician Certification while also furthering my own yoga practice, I was made aware of how tapping into the power of the mind-body connection can maximize our body’s own potential in healing and wellness.  It was this realization that led me to pursue a PhD in Natural Health and Holistic Nutrition.

I have always been, and continue to be, truly honored to hold emotional space for those in need.  It is from there that I have dedicated my professional career to a lifelong commitment in seeking out the most effective therapeutic strategies to offer my clients.
